Whether you’ve had cancer or not, boosting your immune system in our current COVID-19 season is a worthy goal. You can do a lot to increase your resistance to this nasty virus.
I realise that you may not always have access to immune-boosting foods but there are many habits that help build your immunity that don’t involve food.
Ensuring you get adequate sleep would have to be one of the most under-rated immune-boosting activities. Sleep hygiene is the trendy word for having a nightly routine that tells your body it’s time to sleep. When you don’t get enough sleep your body makes less of the special proteins that help fight infection and inflammation. You can read more about the benefits of sleep here.

Staying hydrated is another way to keep your immune system performing because water helps to carry oxygen to your cells, which keeps ALL the systems in your body functioning well. Water also helps to eliminate toxins and other bacteria that may cause illness.
Moving your body is another way to keep your immune system in check. Moderate, regular exercise (like a daily walk) assist immune cells to circulate around the body killing unwanted bacteria and viruses. Check out this blog for more info.
Reducing the stress in your life is often easier said than done! We can’t just tell ourselves not to be stressed – it just doesn’t compute! It’s only by DOING activities like deep breathing, walking on the beach or somewhere in nature, that our bodies understand that we are safe. This is why I talk so much about the benefits of deep breathing. You can read about this easy way to reduce stress here.
Sugar is the immune suppressor. Just one teaspoon of sugar suppresses the immune system for up to 4 hours…need I say more?
Alcohol significantly weakens your immune system and leaves you more vulnerable to catching anything that’s going around… it’s not worth it.
Last but not least, whenever possible boost your immune system with the most nutrient-dense, fibre-filled healthy carbohydrates on the planet – vegetables!
There is NO doubt that eating more whole foods is the best recipe for health. Nature’s food contains an abundance of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that keep your immune system in top condition.
The less processed food you eat the better – read more on that here
Feel free to check out my blog where you’ll find heaps of recipes using 10 different vegetables, starting with cauliflower.

I believe this is why so many diets fail.

We commit to a 6 week challenge - pay for a coach or announce it to the world and off we go!

But then the coaching ends OR the 6 weeks are up!

When I work with clients at some point they’ll say...I almost ate XXX on the weekend, but I knew I had to tell you so I resisted.

I am acutely aware that I will not be in my clients' lives forever.

So I never pass quickly over these revelations because I want to make sure they have the tools to deal with these situations when I’m not around.
